ABOUT NINA
Nina is an award-winning film and television director and 2015 graduate of the prestigious film and television course at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Australia. She is known for her passion for telling intimate and suspenseful stories from the female perspective.
Nina’s graduating VCA short film ‘WOOF!’ premiered at Flickerfest, where she won the award for ‘Best Editing in an Australian Short Film’. That same year Nina was selected as one of 100 best young filmmakers in the world to participate in FILMSCHOOLFEST MUNICH in Germany.
In 2017, Nina directed her second short film ‘MWAH’, premiering at MIFF in the Accelerator program for emerging screen talent. That same year Nina won ‘Young Australian Filmmaker of the Year’ at Byron Bay Film Festival and travelled to Palm Springs Film Festival and Rooftop Films in New York.
In 2019, Nina had her television directing debut on the critically acclaimed Netflix series ‘THE INBESTIGATORS’ for Gristmill/ABC. Nina also went on to direct two episodes of Gristmill’s anthology series ‘SUMMER LOVE’ for ABC TV.
In 2022, Netflix appointed Nina as the director’s attachment to Jocelyn Moorhouse on the TV series ’BOYS SWALLOWS UNIVERSE’. She then kicked off 2023 directing her first network television drama ’PAPER DOLLS’ for Paramount + and Network 10. This same year Nina went on to direct the final episodes of the children’s coming of age series ’PLANET LULIN’ for the ABC.
Nina recently directed her third short drama film ‘BUBBA’, which was supported by the Filmmaker Fund from Rooftop Films in New York and was runner up in the 2022 Monte Miller Australian Writer’s Guild awards for Australia’s best unproduced scripts.
